Ben Wright

Ben Wright combines deep policy knowledge with practical advocacy, leading efforts that directly improve health care access and delivery across Texas. As Director of Public Affairs for the Texas Medical Association (TMA), he represents more than 57,000 physicians and medical students before the Texas Legislature on issues including commercial health insurance, Medicaid managed care, and patient access to care.

Since joining TMA in 2022, Ben has helped deliver major wins for organized medicine, including legislation to strengthen network adequacy standards and reduce prior authorization burdens. These reforms directly improve care for Texas patients. His calm approach, sharp analysis, and reputation for collaboration have made him a trusted voice among both policymakers and medical professionals.

Before joining TMA, Ben spent nearly a decade in the Texas Legislature, serving as Legislative Director for Senator Beverly Powell, Chief of Staff for Representative Ryan Guillen, and Committee Director for the House Committee on Culture, Recreation, and Tourism.
