Refer & Earn · Ambassador Program

Program terms, in plain English.

The rules of the USLege referral and ambassador programs. Short on purpose. If anything here is unclear, email us and a human will answer.

Effective July 15, 2026

1. The programs

Refer & Earn is open to anyone with a colleague worth introducing. The Ambassador Program is the volume tier: you apply once, we confirm your terms in writing, and you introduce teams at whatever scale your network supports. Ambassadors do not need to be USLege customers.

2. Rewards

$250 for every person who signs up on a one-state plan. $499 for every person who signs up on an all-states-plus-Federal plan. "Every person" means every seat included in the referred organization's initial signed agreement.

Plans covering several states, more than one but short of the full national package, qualify too: at least $250 per person, with the exact reward confirmed with you in writing when the deal signs.

There is no cap. Not per deal, not per month, not per year. Refer a 100-person agency and we will happily write a very large check.

3. What counts as a qualifying referral

  • The referred organization is new to USLege: not a current customer, and not in active sales conversations with us during the 90 days before your referral. We check this when we confirm receipt and tell you immediately if a referral does not qualify.
  • The referral is traceable to you: they booked a demo through your personal link, you sent them through the introduction form, or they named you on a call with our team.
  • The introduction is warm: someone you actually know. Cold-scraped lists, purchased contacts, and mass outreach to strangers do not qualify.
  • If more than one person refers the same organization, the first referrer on record gets the credit.
  • You cannot refer your own organization. USLege employees and contractors are not eligible for rewards. Public officials, public employees, and legislative staff are not eligible for cash rewards; if that is you, we are glad to donate the reward instead (see section 5).
  • Referrals of government agencies and other public-sector purchasers are reviewed case by case before any reward is confirmed, so procurement rules are respected on both sides.

4. How and when we pay

Payouts run monthly. Your reward becomes payable once the referred organization's first invoice is paid, and it goes out in the next monthly payout run. Paid by ACH direct deposit, and we confirm every amount with you in writing before it goes out. In practice that is typically 30 to 60 days after your referral signs, depending on when their first invoice is paid.

If a referred organization's first invoice is refunded, the associated reward is void. US tax rules apply: rewards totaling $600 or more in a calendar year require a completed W-9 and are reported on a 1099.

5. Ethics, gifts, and disclosure

This program pays for introductions that lead to a software subscription. It never pays for lobbying, never pays for influencing any government action, and is never contingent on any legislative, regulatory, or procurement outcome.

For registered lobbyists: contingency fee laws, federal and in most states, prohibit compensation that depends on the outcome of government action, like the passage of a bill or the award of a public contract. Rewards in this program depend only on a private software subscription being signed and paid. You are not lobbying for USLege, and nothing here pays you to influence any government action. If your state has unusual rules, check them, and take the donation path if in doubt.

Many people in this industry work under employer, client, or state ethics rules that restrict gifts. Checking your own rules is your responsibility. If they restrict what you can accept, tell us: we will donate your full reward to any registered 501(c)(3) you name instead, and confirm the donation in writing.

Be open about it: if you have professional duties to the person or organization you are introducing, tell them you participate in this program. In some professions that disclosure is required; in all of them it is good practice.

6. The fine print

  • We may update or end these programs at any time. Changes apply going forward and never touch rewards you have already earned.
  • We may decline or reverse credit for referrals that are fraudulent, self-dealing, or bulk-scraped from lists rather than real relationships.
  • Think we got an attribution call wrong? Email us within 30 days of hearing from us and a human will review it with you, record in hand.
  • Participating does not create an employment, agency, or partnership relationship with USLege.
  • Questions, edge cases, or disputes: support@uslege.ai. A human reads every one.
