# By the Numbers: Abbott's War Chest Tops the Entire Texas Congressional Delegation

Amount, in millions of dollars, that Gov. Greg Abbott reported having on hand as of December 31 in excess of the total cash on hand reported as of the same date by all 36 U.S. Representatives from Texas _combined_.

Abbott reported having $34.4M on hand, the second highest figure ever reported by a Texas officeholder or candidate, trailing only the $35.6M he reported having on hand as of June 30, 2014. Collectively, the 36 members of the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas reported having $22.4M on hand. It is at least the third time that Abbott has reported more on hand than the entire House delegation.

It is likely the first time that Abbott’s war chest has exceeded that of the entire congressional delegation including the state’s two U.S. senators. The Ted Cruz campaign said it has $4.2M on hand, and the John Cornyn campaign did not announce results. Neither senator’s report is available online, but it is highly unlikely that the pair will make up the difference between Abbott and the House delegation.

These cash on hand figures include only the candidates’ official campaign accounts and not any other PACs that they may control.
